There isn’t much that can continue to explain support for a President who is openly advancing policies that kill people and which try to disrupt an election. So, we again present our view, originally presented last summer.
Back in the 1980’s, a pure form of heroin hit the streets of Washington D.C. It was called ‘Murder One.’ It was killing those who used the drug like clockwork. People were found with the needle still in the arm ‘Murder One’ was so good. A friend of mine who once used heroin and who died recently told me that when word got out that such a pure form of heroin was on the streets, he and his fellow users went out immediately looking for it. Such is the power of addiction.
Joel Dias Porter, the poet, says all the time (as do others) that white supremacy is a hell of a drug. This is usually said when white Americans find themselves saying the strangest of things to justify supporting Donald Trump. Millions of them voted for Trump back in 2016 and millions continue to support him even individuals who are intelligent, educated, rational and who know what they are doing is destructive and evil. Such is the power of addiction to America’s most powerful narcotic: white supremacy.
Thing is, if you were addicted to this drug and can’t imagine the world and your life without what it does for you (whatever benefit that is), you will seek it out. You want the pure form too, the best. You want the “Murder One” type. You don’t want some lesser type, or some cut type. This is why the Democrats can’t get any footing these days politically in many states. Donald Trump has the “Murder One” and they are selling something else.
The addicts will continue to flock to Trump and make excuses. The somersaults the Republicans are making on camera as they try to explain how it is that Trump is in office, is an unapologetic white supremacist, is just one example. Every time they comment on his most recent diatribe of racist evil, they attack the four Congressional representatives he attacked. They do not simply call for an end to white supremacy and to do everything in their power to end it, regardless of the personal cost to them.
White supremacy, as Porter said, is a hell of a drug. It is better than ‘Murder One’ heroin. Democrats can’t win trying to sell a lesser version of it which is why the Biden and Pelosi march to the center is ridiculous. Why would the addicts seek a weaker hit? This one gets them high. Millions of people want to die with the needle in their arm. They just want to feel good. They know the United States they thought existed no longer can be a reality. So just give me one more hit before I die. If the Democrats want to win, sell to the majority who thinks white supremacy is evil and should die.
Okay, Rick, hit it:
