There isn’t much that can continue to explain support for a President who is openly advancing policies that kill people and which try to disrupt an election. So, we again present our view, originally presented last summer.

Back in the 1980’s, a pure form of heroin hit the streets of Washington D.C. It was called ‘Murder One.’ It was killing those who used the drug like clockwork. People were found with the needle still in the arm ‘Murder One’ was so good. A friend of mine who once used heroin and who died recently told me that when word got out that such a pure form of heroin was on the streets, he and his fellow users went out immediately looking for it. Such is the power of addiction.

Joel Dias Porter, the poet, says all the time (as do others) that white supremacy is a hell of a drug. This is usually said when white Americans find themselves saying the strangest of things to justify supporting Donald Trump. Millions of them voted for Trump back in 2016 and millions continue to support him even individuals who are intelligent, educated, rational and who know what they are doing is destructive and evil. Such is the power of addiction to America’s most powerful narcotic: white supremacy.
