A Joke Of A Nation
This didn’t happen overnight
This place where we live is the naked emperor. This is the message of the last 10 years. Maybe the last 24 years in fact. Specifically, the night the Supreme Court selected George W. Bush to be President is the day America’s clothes disappeared. If you remember those times, SCOTUS installed an unqualified, well connected Washington insider who promised the country “compassionate conservatism.” We didn’t get that; we got eight years of low grade leadership.
Vice President Al Gore, a neoliberal centrist, actually won the election of 2000 but SCOTUS didn’t let the votes get counted. And so, SCOTUS accomplished two damning things in one night: it installed a disaster of a President and it began the destruction of SCOTUS. SCOTUS has not recovered from that grave era 24 years ago despite the occasional decent decision. No one trusts it now.
We know what happened once W took charge. The Bush administration was sleep at the wheel 0n September 11, 2001 when America was bombed by Al Qaeda killing over 3000 Americans. Things got worse fast. Bush invaded two countries, bogged the country down into a 20 year war then violated the Constitution with impunity with a multitude of illegal prosecutions and new laws that took away all of our rights and privacy. The survelliance state expanded.
