as wild as it sounds, I usually just say, today I will try not to do anything racist or say something hateful and prejudiced, or say something or do something sexist, or homophobic. I will try today, really hard. That is the best approach for me. The arrogance of many white liberals and many people is to think they are fixed once they understand the problem. It is a day by day commitment to do better, be better. And if I make a mistake, recognize it, and try to do better.
