Black Barrister in An Hour of Chaos
D.A. Alvin Bragg calls Donald Trump to answer for his actions
Alvin Bragg rises to the moment
I am a Black lawyer. A barrister. An attorney at law. I have 30 years in the game. And for that reason, I am proud of Alvin Bragg already for doing his job. He is following his ethical obligations and his professional duties. A public official has blatantly broken the law, it appears, and Bragg has indicted that person.
Alvin Bragg is no rookie either or somebody’s flunkie. Here’s what the New York Times wrote about him in 2021 when the newspaper endorsed him for office:
“Mr. Bragg is a talented prosecutor with the endorsement of former colleagues across a wide swath of the legal system. He served as first chief deputy at the state attorney general’s office, where he oversaw some 1,200 people and successfully sued the Trump Foundation for illegally using campaign funds — experience that could be invaluable because the next Manhattan district attorney will be left with finishing Mr. Vance’s investigation into the former president’s business dealings.”
This is a big shout. A salute. This is the guy moment.
