in michigan i would know. they could not help themselves. they had to do something. say something. the impulse laid on them like a big giant weighted ball. nonsense about fraud & stolen votes, always some craziness to match what they already wanted things to be. & one of them showed in my feed this week. asked me did i know who malcolm x was. i said — no. school me. and then he got afraid. he said i was layng a trap for him. i was fooling because all black people know who malcolm x is. & i said, are you sure. maybe not. go ahead tell me. let me know who he is. maybe i grew up in the suburbs with all white people. or, maybe i was born in germany. you do know there are afro-germans right? or maybe i am adopted and my asian parents raised me in vietnam and i know more about ho chi mihn than malcolm x even though they were both born on may 19. he suggested i was one of them, ‘race reductionists.’ what in the fuck is a race reductionist, i said. is that someone who reduces their race? do you even know what you are saying, i asked? who are you, anyway?
