Good news analysis. Thanks for breaking it down. I am personally not sure what to think. My opinion is the US has its fingerprints on this in some way. I also believe that the Venezuelan Supreme Court should have let Machado run. That made this not credible from the start. I am not sure what was the legal basis for kicking her off the ballots but that was a political mistake. We know the US does not like any leaders in Latin America they don't choose. Biden calling Lulu does not mean they like Lulu; Lulu just has credibility. The Carter Center, which has a decent track record, suggested he release the data. The fact that he didn't release it immediately screwed things up optically. Chavez was a bit more savvy than Maduro. You are dealing with some rotten imperial crazies in the US. The Monroe Doctrine is not dead. I am not sure how Maduro could have played this and been seen as credible other than play to the people of Latin America. The US does not matter so much; the US has made its position very clear - they want Maduro gone.
