Henry “Box” Brown’s Story Should Be Told
A universal story of freedom and determination
I want someone to do a television film or series about the great story of Henry “Box” Brown. It is not a well known story and one more than worthy of bigger treatment for the masses.
Who is Henry “Box” Brown?
He is an African American man, enslaved, who wanted his freedom so bad, he mailed himself to Philadelphia from Richmond, Virginia in a storage crate. It is an actual true story.
It has never been on Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, HULU, or any of these trash streaming services. This is a story that everyone should know about and especially young Americans. Why?
Because the education system continues to perpetuate the myth that African people enslaved were happy to be slaves. They didn’t want to be free. They were okay with people treated like they were a table or a chair. This is what the schools teach in some places.
Some textbooks in schools will soon try to eliminate any mention of American slavery and its evil. This would be wrong and destructive. It would perpetuate the same lies America has pushed for generations.
