How Do We Talk To Our Children About Their Country?
It is impossible
For those of us who have children who are between the ages of say 12–25, these are terrible days. They are taking in a lot of information about their country and most of it is not good. Even if they are from a family that is MAGA, Pro-Trump, or Pro-America no matter what, the times are disturbing.
People are being fired from their jobs for no reason. Lots of people at once. Soon, people will likely run into serious economic challenges and lose everything. People are coming online and expressing to the world on social media how they have lost their jobs and that they were Trump voters. Here’s one of the posts making the rounds on social media:
The post is both sad and very sad. I suspect there are thousands of people in the same boat. It confirms, at least on an anecdotal level, the narrow-minded thinking that got Trump back in the office but also our own collective shortcomings. The fired worker did not read or research the election or the only issue that mattered: keeping this guy out of office.
