I had done a lot of reading on Elvis in college and I knew he wasn't any of that. But when I tried to discuss it I usually got shouted down. But I kind of held my ground and kept reading. I think it is pretty clear he was in it for the music and the fellowship with the artists and singers he admired. Now, Elvis, the pop star was something he could not control. No way.
