ICE Raids Won’t Get You Laid
(just paid every two weeks)
I have lived in three cities that are sanctuary cities. Takoma Park, Maryland was one of the most famous of such cities. I am sure it is on the radar of the Trump goon squads currently going around trying to find people who have crossed the border and are now on the target list of what is known as “Immigration and Customs Enforcement”or ICE.
For the record, this is what is “ICE”:
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is responsible for identifying and eliminating border, economic, transportation, and infrastructure security vulnerabilities. There is an estimate of about 20,000 ICE employees in approximately 400 offices within the United States and 53 countries.”
I am not going to trash ICE officers here. I don’t even know any. But, I am going to say, don’t let your job make you a partner in a fascist authoritarian escapade.
Nazis got paid. The Tonton Macoute got paid in Haiti killing its own people and rounding up citizens to keep rogue dictators in charge. The roughneck security people are a key to authoritarian success. Don’t buy into it.
There is duty in security. Yes.
