If Herschel Walker Wins, I Go To Iceland (and take stock of it all)
Because America truly is backward
Come on now.
The latest polls say Rev. Raphael Warnock — 52, Herschel Walker — 48. If I am Herschel Walker, the 45th President, MAGA Republicans, and the Republican Party, I can take my victory lap.
Nah, I don’t mean Walker will win. But if that many people are voting for a disaster of a political candidate, over a person who has worked tirelessly and very hard to reach the position he is in, it means the backward system is working. If a guy that unqualified can get that close to winning, we are in grave danger, all of us.
It means that a little more work will produce a truly decadent, disturbed society.
It means taking “Civics” out of the school system is doing what it was designed to do: produce a bunch of ill-informed idiot citizens.
It also means these citizens are zombies. They wake up, pick up their digital devices, read for a few, and then are told what to think, and they think it. Zappo! Game over.
And it is not just the removal of “Civics” or the idea of being an engaged citizen from our discourse. It is just a clear commitment to not produce an informed citizenry and to exploit that 365 — 24 — 7.
