At some point, after his infamous confirmation hearings, Clarence Thomas decided it would always be personal. He felt he had been treated badly by the system, mainly the Democrats, and he would make sure he would try to stick it to them.

It would always be him against the world. His mind would rarely open up. He would hold a grudge against the world. I just read his recent dissent in the latest abortion case, and it seems, that again Justice Thomas remains out on his boat, alone, totally at peace with the fortress he has built around him. Here is the introduction to his dissent:

I found this position so out of touch with reality I had to comment, if only briefly. He is saying here that abortion clinics challenging a law that would effectively totally alter their business have no standing to challenge the law because they are not the one who is having the abortion (they are providing the service). Notice also he calls them — “abortionists” in some self-righteous soft rage. In other words, he would let this law that takes away the privacy rights of so many women, to be enacted and when a woman, perhaps a poor woman, with no means, could not obtain an abortion, she would need to sue, and say, my rights have…
