i am laid out
like salami,
wondering if anyone anywhere
wants me anymore;
no one is ordering
salami today either…
Note to the readers:
My favorite sandwich during my deli trips over the years was always Turkey & Swiss on Pumpernickel, Ryle, Whole Wheat, or Sourdough roll. Mayo or Olive oil and vinegar, pickle, tomato, lettuce, maybe some banana peppers. Maybe some Garlic Aioli. If it was turkey from a turkey that was carved rather than smoked and sliced, that was even better.
