Mostly, the good writing & writers sets the tone here
Medium is great because of the standards set by the writers and the community here. Let me explain —
A friend of mine used to leave half eaten cheeseburgers in my car sometimes. I asked my friend eventually, why do you leave uneaten food in my car?
I didn’t know you cared he said. Your car is full of trash and other rubbish.
Okay, it’s true. I kept a junky car. Trash and debris. But Even though my car was full of trash, there was no sign that says — go ahead, leave your trash in here.
Still, I laughed at his response.
He was right.
So it is with MEDIUM. I enjoy MEDIUM mostly because the writing is good, the discourse is good and mostly, I don’t encounter reactionary writing with little thought, reflection, or total disrespect for the conversations here.
Is it peaceful and loving all the time, everywhere like we are at a Buddhist retreat? No way.
There is push back. There are strong, challenging comments. But rarely does someone just log on and call you names and say you don’t know what you are saying.
