Lately, the platform is like eating at 7-Eleven for dinner

When I started out as a lawyer, I represented people who happened to be poor appealing their terrible food stamp awards. These were usually single mothers and fathers who could not feed their children on two jobs, so they applied for food stamps. I once represented a father of two in a five (5) hour hearing.

At the end of the hearing, they awarded my client $12 additional dollars in assistance. We both burst out laughing. It was not just an insult; it was absurd. Here was a man who the system should reward for hard work as a citizen and father, and they gave him $12 more dollars. His children were already dining terribly.

He could quit his two jobs, and he would get more food stamps but then he would have no money for clothes, transportation to work, and other vitals. It was/is a stupid system. He knew it and I knew it. That’s why we laughed in the judge’s face.

Medium feels like that now.

I am sure there are a small minority of people (writers) doing really well and then there are the rest of the writers. I know. I have seen writers come and go here now. They come in and it feels good at first. Then they realize that they are being paid food stamps, like they are low class.
