A Different Look
In his newspaper, he published from China, Robert Williams wrote the following:
“The colored people of the USA must bring themselves to realize that taken integration is a slick manuever to check the restlessness of an oppressed people fast becoming infected with the germ of total resistance policy developing among all of the oppressed peoples of the world. Token integration means nothing to the masses.”
You would be hard-pressed to find these words written anywhere like this today in America. Robert Williams is different guy in American history. A game changer type. He does not fit into an easy box.
The average Black American does not know about Williams. They also know that the logical path forward is no longer integration. The path will likely reject the integrationist line and will have to embrace Robert Williams some. The integration strategy can’t fix America’s racial issues or help make peace in America with its African American citizens. The problems, in America, related to white supremacy are unfixable.
Yes, unfixable, but not unmanageable. In fact, it can be managed. Contained.
We, the people, and as people, already accept some ills in our spaces. Toxic waste. Chemicals in the water. People smoking weed and using opioids…
