Thanks for comments. I guess you helped clarify this as well. I don't mean the US is a failed state forever, and ever. I just think the institutions are not paying as much attention as some of us are. He can, as you note, order the army to do things now. Who is to stop him? Who stands up? Pelosi? Jeffers? Johnson? The ACLU says they have a plan for mass deportation but that is through the courts. SCOTUS also muddied the legal system. What stops him from sending some goons to pick up some media people he hates? Nothing.
