the answer to this is, that was post-Reconstruction and they all were run out of office when the country stripped them of their voting rights. the Democrats were setting the white supremacy agenda back then. Yet, the parties have now flipped places. The GOP today is the apartheid party of America. The Democrats are just regular American racism. The GOP today is on some white nationalism trip. So today, it is hard to understand anyone of color to me being GOP. The GOP today is dedicated to preserving the racial caste system. Democrats do it too but not as hardcore and as ruthless as the GOP.
