The hearings are not to change minds. The hearings are there to make a record. Americans have poor memories. When Watergate went down, the Nixon presidency did not unravel until about two years later. Howard Baker and other Republicans protected Nixon. They were as hardcore as the GOP is now. Do not let the superstructure pretend WATERGATE went down and people patriotically stepped forward to do the right thing. They didn't. But hearings were held. They were televised. There were two investigations and there was the Washington Post. It took a lot of effort to unravel this. If they hadn't discovered the taping machine, Nixon likely would have finished his term. Fundamentally, tho, in the end, we got things right after a long, long struggle for the truth. They think this is going away but it is not going away. Why would the goal be to change minds anyway? Nixon won the 1972 election in a landslide after the break-in. So, the key is to key making a record and keep asking question. Those who are zombies for Trump, who gives a shit about them.
