The Kevin McCarthy Humiliation Is A Sign Of Things To Come
The GOP is allergic to governing
Speaker of the House?
Kevin McCarthy should not be speaker of the House of Representatives. That is not because twenty upstart Republicans decided to sabotage his nomination for the seat. That is because he disgraced the idea of public service and democracy when he made peace with a criminal who tried to overthrow the government.
Yet, this still doesn’t mean that McCarthy is the problem with what is going on right now. McCarthy is a symptom of dysfunction and corruption. He denounced the 45th president openly back in January 2021 and quietly but then cut a deal with that same president two years ago so he could do what he is doing now — seeking to run the legislative branch of government.
Republicans
People forget that many of the Republicans now elected to Congress are election deniers and individuals who voted against certifying the election in 2020 with no proof. They are, in effect, insurrectionists. They were okay with overthrowing the government and are okay now with Biden being sacked if that could happen.
Their plan for this Congress is basically chaos and settling personal vendettas. Will they propose a bill to fix the immigration…
