The Power of the Artist’s Collective
There is strength in numbers
WEOC (Writers and Editors of Color)
Artists primarily work in solitude. Writers. Musicians. Dancers. Painters. Poets.
Yet, historically, it is also the collective that gives them power. I have been a member of many writers' collectives. They have served me well. I also hope I have given back also.
These days I am a member of WEOC, a Medium-inspired writer’s collective. WEOC stands for “Writers and Editors of Color.” Allison Wiltz created it (along with another writer named Tee Price).
Allison and Quintessa continue to guide and help organize a group of writers on Medium who write on Medium and off Medium, but mainly, we connect. Gather. Talk about writing. Read what others have written. It is an artist collective of some note, and nothing is strange.
