I am among those Americans who caught the story of the three American soldiers killed in Jordan a bit late. I did get up to speed recently and have learned that the three American soldiers were African Americans. The names of the soldiers: Army Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett. All three were army reservists from Georgia.

It is a sad day in Georgia and around the country.

I learned the story from one of the African American press sites I subscribe to daily. That news outlet, Richard Prince’s of journalisms, (it is very good by the way) highlighted the lack of coverage of the story in the Black Press. The Amsterdam News is one outlet that got the story out on Tuesday. There were others who did report it timely.

I do not dismiss the death of these Americans lightly. This is a tragedy. I am sure President Biden is about to exact revenge but it won’t bring them back. It also won’t fix why they were killed. But I still must pause and pay respect.

Individual Americans who serve in the military deserve respect. It is a hell of a sacrifice. It is service. I don’t necessarily…
