Theocratic America
Book banning, religious madness, anti-intellectualism, & fear
Is it the medieval age in America? (Check this talk — linked below — out for as long as you can)
The participant (I am not going to give them attention by writing their names) is holding a copy of The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison and wants the book banned in schools. It is considered obscene. The woman tagged the book on the pages that are obscene.
The other speaker says she would ban all of these books. She says she is an educator but would ban them all. The basis is they are not rooted in Jesus Christ.
The person also held up The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. Obscene.
Books about trying to empower women, liberate them from the white male supremacist-patriarchal society we live in, are obscene. This is where we have come to on earth, in a country, that says it is about freedom. Liberty.
I am not surprised. This is America. Much of this is rooted in the country’s puritanical origins. The misuse of Christianity.
Yaa Gyasi’s Homecoming is also on the list. A classic, award winning novel. In fact, all of these books are classics, award winners. Literature of the highest order.
